Wetlands Restoration: Native Planting Project Begins North of Moses Lake

2025 WALPA Conference Comes to Moses Lake
This year’s Washington State Lake Protection Association (WALPA) Annual Conference will take place in Moses Lake, October 8–10, 2025, at the Best Western Plus Lake Front Hotel. WALPA, founded in 1986, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting Washington’s lakes. The association brings together more than 1,200 participants from across the state, including lakeside residents, recreationists, scientists, educators, and local agencies.

State of Our Lake Meeting Brings Community Together
Last week, the Moses Lake Watershed Council (MLWC) hosted the annual State of Our Lake meeting, bringing together community members, local agencies, and partners to share updates on the health and management of Moses Lake. Gene's Corner: Lake Water Quality 2025
The lake’s water quality is judged from MLIRD’s sampling at six main lake sites twice per month during spring-summer, including lower Parker Horn, South Lake, lower Pelican Horn, and lower, middle, and upper Rocky Ford Arm. These six sites represent 91% of the total lake area, not including middle Pelican and upper Parker, which are also sampled, as well as inflows.

Blue-Green Algae Tracker Returns for the 2025 Season on Moses Lake
The Grant County Healthy Lakes Blue-Green Algae Tracker is back online for another season, keeping the community informed about algae conditions on Moses Lake. First launched in July 2023, the Healthy Lakes Tracker is an interactive, online map that helps residents, visitors, and recreationists stay up to date on potential blue-green algae blooms at key public access points around Moses Lake.

Hooked on Tradition: Highlights from the 2025 Moses Lake Carp Classic
The 2025 Moses Lake Carp Classic proved once again that a little wind and rain can’t dampen Eastern Washington’s competitive spirit. Held at Connelly Park in Moses Lake on May 17th, there was a great turnout of 27 boats and 73 participants, ready to take on the elements and each other. By the end of the day, participants had removed 351 carp, totaling an incredible 3,400 pounds of invasive fish removed from Moses Lake.

Tracking Phosphorus in Rocky Ford Creek: A Collaborative Watershed Study
