Moses Lake Watershed
Heart of the Columbia Basin

Located in east-central Washington, the Moses Lake Watershed spans 6,793 square miles in Grant and Adams counties, including the City of Moses Lake, Othello, Warden, Ephrata, Soap Lake, Quincy, and Royal City.

Moses Lake, Potholes Reservoir, Crab Creek, the Columbia Basin Project, and numerous wetlands make up this rich watershed in an otherwise arid landscape.  With less than 10 inches of precipitation a year and a deep confined aquifer, the watershed not only has water quality challenges but also water quantity.

Moses Lake Watershed Council's primary focus is currently on Moses Lake's water quality, however, we are quickly learning more about the interconnectedness between surface and groundwater quality and quantity -- and will be exploring multi-benefit water resource projects through our upcoming watershed planning efforts.
